I recall the Athlon will go unstable at around 190 degrees F. Hope this helps.

I think it actually says on the chip itself, on the first line(whips out keychain). Ah yes, it's the third last letter on the first line. Mine is S, which means it can go to 90 C. It goes Q=60, X=65,R=70, Y=75, T=90, S=95. My 1000 AYHJA Y was a T...if you have your full coding recorded check it out, I don't think it's worth checking your chip just for that, but it's cool to know all the details from your core numbers.
Cool I just pulled out my complete stepping and wait the last letter on the first line is a C , hmm whats that about. I wonder if I wrote it wrong?

He was referring to the third to last letter. The last letter indicates which bus speed it runs.
You can run it up to about 70oC constantly without burning it out over the long term. 90C-95C is the absolute max according to AMD, but you definately don't want to be running at that for long at all. Couple of seconds, tops.
*Moved to "Cooling"*
Ahh I see thanks Thelemac. Ok its an "S" so thats kind of nice to know not that I will ever get those temps , on purpose anyway.
