Have an OEM system that can support (supposedly) up to 1.1gig. Not really looking to go that high, that and I would need a card. What I was curious about is how high can I go and still get a slot 1? Or at least somewhere I might find this information.
BTW its a Dell 500 Plll so I pretty much can't OC it, much to my dismay
You can find out that info from the S-spec charts on the Intel website. But, you're not limited to just a slot 1 CPU. There are advantages to using a socket 370 CPU and a slotket adapter.

If you want Pentium 3, try to find a 700. From what I hear thats the best overclocker for your money. If you want to save money you can probally find a celeron 800-900 for around $50. They overclock in the Ghz and for ~$50 you can't go wrong. Just try to get a good "slocket" (slot-1 to socket 370) card, I have an abit card with full voltage jumpers. Works great for me. I would definatly make sure the slocket has voltage jumpers, another advantage of useing slockets.
Get out www.pricewatch.com for cheapest prices.
Your best bet is probabally one of the new cDO celerons and a slocket with both voltage and fsb options and a good heatsink.
I recomend a celeron 900, an asus s370-133 and a glaciator if you don't want a noisy cooler, or an sk6 if you can tolerate a noisy cooler. With this setup you should be able to overclock the celeron to 1.2ghz by setting the fsb jumper on the slocket to 133 as long as it supports a 133mhz fsb. Check in sandra to see what chip set your motherboard is, if it's a bx then you would be better off with one of the 66mhz fsb celeron, say a 600 or 633 overclocked to 900 or 950mhz.

Ya, I just ordered a 900 Cele from newegg for $52.00 to replace my aged Cele566@876. Hopefully I can get 1200 out of it...
I have an old BH6 1.0 with an Abit slotket.

Well your bx board has fsb options where as Vjeszczi isn't likely to have them on his dell board if it's a bx system.
Also what vid card do you have as you will need to be pretty sure it can handle an 89mhz agp bus which will be used with a 133mhz fsb on a bx board.

The point about the AGP is good. I have an Asus6800 GeForce DDR in this machine, I don't know how it will handle those bus speeds!
We will just have to see!:p
I have a Matrox G400 on a Asus P3B-F which has worked fine at 150FSB.....(with P3 500)
