As the multiplier of the chip is locked, it depends what your mobo can do for it.

What mobo is it you have?

Is it a 100mhz or 133mhz FSB chip? If it's a 100, you'll probably be able to get more out of it. Just be sure to keep it cool.

this is in the wrong forum. should go in the intel cpu section.

katami's are the old p3 core. it's a 100 mhz fsb chip. it has 512k of half speed level 2 cache. i think most of them were slot one and they came in a funky black plastic cartrige that was someone dificult to remove if you wanted to put on a better heatsink.

anyways katami's can usually go up to about 600mhz tops. just up the fsb and make sure you have good cooling.

if you have a setting for 120 fsb with a 1/4 pci then that would probably be ideal because you would boot at 600 mhz.

ebola is right on two counts;

1) The Katmai isn't the best for overclocking, intel switched to the Coppermine core, because they ran out of real-estate to push the Katmai's any further. Expect around 600MHz, tops.

2) **Moved post to "intel CPU's".**

I am with Mr. B on this one. I haven't been able to push my PIII katmai at all. I am buying another one for a dual processor setup and seeing if I can't get it to a 150Mhz FSB. I am only trying this with a huge heatsink that i will lap and with Artic Silver 2. I will let you know if it is stable. If it is it will smoke anything in the PIII line because of the 512kb cache. Just my 2 cents.
