I know there is a way to enable temperature monitoring through the bios and that I need to flash the bios, only problem is that I don't have a floppy drive at hand. Is there any other way to do it ?

you could flash from a cd-r. someone will know how, i dont though. and you'd need to flash to enable temp monitoring

Yeah, I'm just going to pick up a floppy drive later tonite. They have 5$ refurb ones at a store near my house.

This is why I always think it is good to have a floppy. Even though I use it rarely whenever I do use it I am glad I have it.

I rather not flash to a 6600, I'm just going to unlock the temp probe and if I need the extra voltage, pencil mod it.
I'll let you guys know how it turned out.

ohh yea, i forgot you didnt hafta flash to 6600 to get the temp probe, just mod some numbers. im gonna pencil mod my card soon, water arrived, and ill be wanting 630 on the core :D. good luck with your flash.
i just burned a bootable dos disk image to a bootable cd, loaded it up, then ran nvflash off the hard drive. it was on a fat32 partition so i could load/store the bios images at will without having to worry about the cd being read-only. the standard nibitor temp mod worked fine after that. no floppy needed, though it might have saved 5 minutes.
stock cooling isn't the best, but it does the job. i think i'm just voltage-limited right now. stock 300/550 has temps of 52/73 (idle/3dmark), overclocked to 530/685 the reported temps are 56/79.

Ok, can someone tell me how to enable temperature monitoring through RivaTuner, the people at guru3d say it's possible, but they explain really badly. Anyone who has used temperature monitoring in Rivatuner, can you write a good explanation ? Thank you.
you can't do it through rivatuner. once the temp monitor has been enabled through a patched bios, rivatuner will be able to monitor temps automatically. but not otherwise.
your prescription is a healthy dose of nvflash and nibitor :)

Ah, ok cool, just checking. Yeah, I'll do the flash either later tonite or tomorow. Forget to buy diskettes lol.
