I just purchased an x800se off of a forums member. It came with an Ati Silencer 4, but the ram pads on the silencer do not match up with the actual positions of the ram chips. In fact, the chips are located between the pads. Does anyone know of a way to remove the pads and reposition them? They look like they are held on with thermal adhesive, so I tried the freezer trick, with no luck. If nothing works, I guess Ill just rig something up to fill the space by cutting up a cpu heatsink.

You may want to ask the person you bought it off how he installed the Silencer, I'd hate to see you end up like this guy (http://www.hardocp.com/images/news/1117130312rZEFPBGD1K_1_2_l.jpg)

Thats a pic of a Silencer removal gone wrong I saw over at [H], a bit too much Artic Silver adhesive

Yeah, I wouldn't want to do that! lol

The guy I bought it from said it didn't match up correctly, so he put electrical tape over the board to protect from shorting anything out and just let the ram sit under the cooler without making contact. I just want to remove the contact pads and reposition them where they need to be.
