I seem to be having problems with the PSU I purchased from the classifieds. When I started it up in the beginning with 1 fan the 12v rail was low(10.8v). The 5v rail 5.05v. I tried to change the pot but the 5v went up to 6v before the 12v was anywhere near 12v. I turned it back down and connected a few more devices to see if that made a difference.
Instead of lowering the voltage, the extra devices caused an increase in the 12v line from 10.8v to 11.7 volts. There was a noticeable difference in the brightness of LED fans. the 5v was at 5.5v.
I have an Aerocool Gatewatch I am going to put in my younger brothers computer. When I connected it to the line the voltages stayed the same but I had problems with part of the display. There is a volume equalizer style display that was going crazy. Normally this should be quiet with only 1 bar. It was showing 10+ bars on all 3 lines. I found out that it was line noise from a cold cathode. As soon as I turned it off the voltage dropped to 11.2V and the display went quiet.
I connected all devices to a fortron 400watt PSU and had no problems. Volume display was quiet and all fans were at full power. CCFL looked fine.
All measurements were watched with a RS DMM while I was switching things on and off. Are they supposed to act this way or did it get damaged in shipping?
