Excelent! 256Mb should be more than enough for Seti.
Happy Boincing :)

Each SETI thread uses about 16mb ram, so 256mb ram is plenty. :)

its not that way with F@H.... some of the WU's require nearly 300Mbs of RAM

**cough**QMD's/BP's**cough**

anyways, i gotta finish crunching the unit i'm on... then i'll finish the Tinker i'm on for F@H... then i'm gonna dedicate this machine to SETI for a few weeks, give ya'll a bump....

Daaannng... I guess it's because the WUs can vary in size then? Or is it just a different "kind" of work (since they can be categorized as QMD's/BP's)?

the designation does take differing amounts of ram.

Tinkers are very fast folders and take up very little RAM, and give good points.

Most Gromacs are also small on RAM, but slow folders and give poor to good points.

BP's = Big Packet Gromacs and are really slow and take up 150-225mbs of RAM, but give the most points per unit.

Ambers are medium speed and points and ram small RAM usage

QMD's = Teh UBER POINTS for Intel chips with SSE2. 2nd best point producer (per base unit), folds very fast, but it takes oftentimes between 220-300mbs of RAM for one. Currently considered the best WU, as they give the most PPD, and only INTEL chips can currently get them. However, as soon as licensing issues are fixed, AMD's with SSE2 will soon get them as well.

Are the SETI servers down again? I can't get any new work since early this morning.

Ugly but it works:) My wife can't stand it!
Anyone that enters the room is like "what the hell is that?" I'm soooo tired of explaining that a computer can run without a case
