hey, i have a problem,
my digitial out on my sb live value isnt working. not only do i have the card with the spdif out, i ALSO have the daughterboard with opticals, and coax plugs on it too.
this is the thing, it USED to work, but one day, i rebooted and it did not. what did i install, what happened? no clue. however, since then (bout a week ago), i have installed a new mobo (now have Iwill KK266+), and right now, the only hardware on my machine is network card (USB, no conflicts there), video card, and my drives. i have tried the card in ALL PCI slots with no luck.
anyone have this problem, or know whats up?
i can give more details if someone is stumped. system is in sig.

Apologies if this seems boneheaded, not trying to flame you..
Sounds almost like it is muted. Try this:
1) Double click your speaker icon in the tray
2) Select Options --> Properties from the menu
3) Look in the list of devices for the SPDIF (think that's what it's called)
4) Be sure that it is selected.
5) Return to the main sound control area and see of the device is muted.
Those Live! boards are a pain with all the junk that creative gives you so there may also be a mute option somewhere in the LiveWare! setup.
Can't think of anything else right now.

thanks for the reply, but i tried that...
its really easy to discout things like that too, becuase i use optical. and even if there is no signal, the optical light is on... however, my light isnt even on. all settings are right. in audioHQ, the digital is set to on, as well as in the regular mixer, volume is full, and analog works fine. when i switch over to digital, nothing. no red dot coming from optical, nothing.

What version of liveware are you using??
if its version 2 or higher then follow the following.
open creative surround mixer, then select the speaker panel.
in the top left hand corner of the speaker graphic there is a little check box , digital output only. Check this and it should sort out the problem, if not let us know.

Just to clarify, do the coax connectors work on the d/board?
idea, Have you got the via drivers installed?
