everytime i restart windows the background image disappears and jus becomes the colour i have selected as the background colour and to get it back i have to select no background and then the one i want again i am using a radeon 9600 anyone have any idea on how to fix the problem ?

How old is your install? Your file system may be starting to fail. If not I am not too sure. Where is the background image stored?

well its pretty much brand new so i dont think it could be that and its stored in the windows folder

It could be several things but could it possibly be a virus or something?

ok right ive now scanned my hard drive for viruses and removed the one i found the background will show up if i refresh the desktop so i dont know what is happening any ideas??

I am assuming you are using WindowsXP, have you tried repairing Windows and/or reinstalling the video card drivers?

i moved the computer downstairs today and changed which mouse i use and suddenly does not happen anymore must of been a clash with the mouse and computer but i have no idea why

Or it might have been a loose connector/vga cable issue.
