Does win2k do a better job of utilizing the processor than winMe? Me crashes about every 2 months and I am tired of ghosting and getting all my settings right every other month so I switched to win2k and now my temps have dropped. My idle temps on winMe were 39 and in win2k they are 35. In winMe my temps were usually running around 42, but with win2k I havent even hit 40 yet.
I was never able to oc much above 1.06GHz in Me because of temps, but now in 2k I can run 1.2GHz with no temp problems and now can try going beyond 1.2. Basicly my speed limiting factor has always been temps, but now they arent a problem anymore.
I cant think of anything else that would have brought my temps down because I didnt change any hardware.

Welocme to the wonderful world or windows 2000, yes your temps will drop in 2k it is a NTFS kernal not a FAT32, there fore it is more efficient and needs less cpu running at any given time. Also ME is a resource hog as Xp is, so anther example of less running, and less cpu work= less heat=more stability. I just wnet from 2k to Xp yesterday an added 2c on idle temps o well, i still like XP. It all has to do with what runs at startup and how efficeint it is. (sorry i cant spell that right) Win2k is a beast for stability, and uses minimal cpu power, os its good for overclocking.
