what are the difference apart from that the PC4000 are rated at 500 mhz and more expensive. since both use the same utt chip can't i just buy the pc3200 and overclock it? will i be able to acheive the same speed and timming with pc 3200 that the pc4000 can acheive?

The main difference between the two is the fact that the PC 4000 has been binned to 250 Mhz ~ 3.3 volts. Typically, PC 3200 VX should hit at least 240+, but nothing is guarunteed. For the most part, it is assumed that you'll hit slightly higher speeds with the PC 4000 VX, but the difference might be a couple of Mhz at best.

oic so the pc 4000 are guaranteed to run at 250 mhz with 222 and will overclock slightly better so i think i will buy pc 4000 thx for yr advice

No problem.

Remember: The PC 3200 VX is not limited to 240's; it can certainly go higher given the right conditions. It is assumed, however, that the PC 4000VX can usually hit the same (or slightly higher) speeds with less voltage.

is the VX4000 guarenteed to hit 250 @ 2-2-2? I thought it was just to hit 2-2-2 no promises about the timings.

PC 4000 = 250 Mhz. In short: yes it's guarunteed to run @ 250 Mhz with ~ 3.3 volts.

yeah, but is it guarenteed to run at 2-2-2 at that speed?

it's guarenteed to run at 250 speed with timmings 2-2-2 as long you can supply 3.3v or more to ram

Does that have more to do with the mobo or powersupply? Is there a way to tell how much voltage you can supply to the memory?

The only motherboard out the will supply 3.0v and more is the DFI NF4...you will have to use a OCZ booster to run them on other boards...

I am using 4000 VX's on my NEO2 with a OCZ booster...

See sig...
