I might be posting this in wrong section, but I thought someone will notice it and help me out.

I recently made a bidding at ebay for a nice desktop. I gave it $381, but as I wasnt that interested I stayed there. Anyhow other people did bid further and it went over $700.
Now, for some reason guy pulled the item from bidding and couple days later I recieved an e-mail with an offer to get it for original bid I made ( $381)
Notice that there are about over 10 higher bidders than me.

Ok I wasnt sure what to do, so I emailed a seller via ebay asking him is it correct that he wants to give that computer for $381 and just to be in safe side I wrote down all parts he listed asking him - is that correct.

Now, today I check my e-mails and I get an e-mail from him saying:
"HELLO,
ALL OF THIS CORRECT! SHIPPING 30$

Have a nice day."

Now when I tell you whats in that computer might make you understand why I am hesitating to hit Buy it now button.

This is how he listed it.

What to do people? Guy has sold only one item till now worth $5.

Please reply with advice.

PS

Mods please if in wrong place move this thread where you think it belongs.
Thank you.

should be in vendor discussion but sounds like a scam to me. I doubt that all the other 10 bidders pulled out. If not you have ridiculous good luck. I'd be very warry of this. If you feel lucky I would play for it, but when undoubtedly don't get what he offered be perpared to go with a long claim response with ebay. Officially he must give what he describes its the law. So keep all the emails and keep a copy of the listing.

if he only sold 1 item you shouldn't buy from him, some people have like 2 account who keeps raising up the price they wanted and if no one bid they just send 2nd chance offers. i wouldn't trust him at all.

Notify ebay that you received an offer from the seller and they will solve the problem. This is against the terms of agreement.

You are hesitating because it is too good to be true which means you are ripe to be ripped off. Walk away but notify ebay so this creep does not have the opportunity to rip anybody else off.

some deal can seem very hard to resist, this person only have 1 rating thats really low, i doubt its real. you should buy from people who has the paypal protection shield which covers up to 1000 dollars

Maybe he sent all the bidders the same message trying to get all the money he can then run with it.

Is this solely through e-mail or through ebay with e-mail notifications? I've got e-mail notifications of second chances and things but it is done through ebay. If it is solely over e-mail, this is a big no-no. If he's using ebay's to make the transactions, then its your call, but i'd be hesistant, very hesistant.

Log into eBay as normal, and see if it is listed as a regular "Second Chance Offer." If it is, then you will have eBay's buyer protection and/or PayPal's, so you will be safe if you want to risk it, although it might be a hassle if he doesn't come through. If you don't have a method to pay for it where you can file a chargeback claim or anything like that, then I wouldn't touch this with a 10 ft. pole.

My thoughts exactly. As I understand it, eBay does not permit this activity. Also, if there are 10 people have higher bids and he comes back to you, it has the earmarks of a scam. Purchase from reputable dealers. I would contact eBay about him too -- get him yanked before he suckas another sucka. With only one transaction to his name, it's not like he has a lot to lose.

Here is a pic of e-mail with Second Chance Offer.

http://fight-club.home.comcast.net/desktop2.jpg

Only last reply of his was sent to me through e-mail without ebay notification. Thats the one I asked are all those components in that system as he described them.
Tempting but I'll stay in safe and skip it.

Thank you all for help/advice.

Without looking at the headers, that email is worthless. There is a good chance it is not from eBay at all. Is the offer there when you log in to www.ebay.com? That's a lot more important than the email he sent you. An email can be easily forged. If it's on eBay's site when you log in by yourself and go to "My eBay," then it has a chance of being legit. If it isn't, and all you have is that email, it is 100% scam.

It seems like he built the computer, start asking him about some technical questions on the processor or something ridiculous if the RAM will do a cas 3-4-5-6 AND in the item description he writes after each part the warranty terms...ask him if he has receipts as so you can file a warranty claim if need be in the future.

I know that you know by now it is a scam, but I want this guy to work for it as much as possible...

I second this. don't bite

I would not take his offer, this is most likely a ploy often used when the Ebay account has been compromised by a phisher.

I would use restrainst and pass on the offer, if you end up losing $381 and no product think how expensive the item really is when you have to buy it again after being out $381

PS you are not in a position to be hesitant to hit the BUY IT NOW, you are completely off the Ebay system if you decided to take a risk, and when I mean risk, I truly mean risk.

PS, This may sound harsh, but you should report this to Ebay, one its circumventing Ebay fees, secondly and more important, if the account is hijacked you will be able to stop someone else from getting ripped off. You would then be helping the Ebay user get his account back from a potential phisher.

My first thought was what has already been said: Report this to Ebay and move on. Any time I get one of these type of emails I report them asap. Its just some scammer trying to get you to send money outside of Ebay so there is no protection.

After all thats been said in this thread about it if you still want to buy it then send me the money and I'll put the money to good use. Either way you will lose the money and get nothing in return. :D

Unfortunately a lot or people try to scam you on ebay, whenever I sell something of relatively high value I get loads of emails trying to buy it outside ebay, for about 5times it's value, as long as I accept instantly.

Never experienced one this way around before, but there is no WAY I would go near it. You should certainly report this to ebay for the reasons others have said.

i buy and sell on ebay frequently and i say dont do it. its a scam alright, no one in their right mind would ever sell a comp like that for under 400. this guy (or girl?) is just looking for easy money through scams. i wouldnt buy anything from anyone on ebay if they had less than 50 feedback. A lot more (200+?) if it was an expensive item like a computer.

the other thing is how he replied to your email by using all caps. very unprofessional and is a common sign of a scam.
