Essentially, how can I set up a dual boot system? I want to run 98se and XP. Any pointers?

ok first make 2 or more partition of your HD then install win98se to c: then install winxp to a difrent partition, when you are don white the winxp install you will have a dual boot.

XP should automatically yank control from the master boot record during start up, and ask you which OS you want to boot. As long as both OSes are on separate partitions, with the XP partition set to active\primary. It's more a matter of choosing which partition to make primary during boot. FDISK will only let you make 1 primary partition but HDs can support up to four!

It takes a separate, 3rd party program to do this if you aren't using a NT-based OS like I hear XP is. I had to get System Commander to enable dual-boot between 98SE and 3.1. That program does it a lot easier than the built-in tool 2000 has.

(I assume that XP is essentially the same as 2000 when it comes to dual-boots, or else I'm completely wrong!)

Good luck!
