I have tried 3 cpu's a 1333 and 2 1400's, and they would all overclock fine for awhile and then become unstable. If I run them back to spec, stability returns. All 3 ran well above 1500 for a week or more before becoming unstable and crashing. the last 1400 was at 1600 for a week and ran every benchmark i have flawlessly, then crapped out and wont overclock without bluescreening. I am using watercooling and the cpu's have never exceeded 44c. thanks for your help

might be a bad mobo, switch that, and make sure you stress the cpu for an hour or 2 after each of the overclock bump to make sure it's stable at that speed. Don't forget to add to Vcore after you can't pass xxxxmhz at defualt.

I have had the same experiences with my 3 birds too. Seems to be more unstable after burnin than before:( While on my duron, k6, p1 its have always gone the other way after some burnin at the highest stable speed i could bump it up even further after some weeks but seems like all birds go the other way:(

Maybe it has to with that tbirds have copper interconnects?? and duron, k6s and older cpus have alliminium??? i have no clue, just a wild guess:)

Hopefully the mobo is good. When I was at 1600 the voltage was at 1.85 and I was even able to lower it to 1.825 and it was stable until it decided to freak out again. Right now it is stable at 1400 but it wont run any faster.

I had that problem with my AMD, too. Turned out, I just didn't put enough graphite on the bridges, and wasn't getting a strong enough connection. I had to really really cake it on, and keep the residue kinda just sitting there to make it OC'able. If I blew it off, it would only run at the default speed.

Yeah I had that happen too with an 800, but this chip has the multipliers unlocked from the factory. Im not sure but I think all tbirds over 1200 are unlocked. Thanks

why dont you use a special pen thing to unlock it?

The bridges come connected on tbirds over 1.2 ghz. Instead of having 8 dots on the L1 bridge mine has 4 lines. You dont need the pencil trick if the bridges are already connected.

ARRRGGGHHHH....

The Exact same thing here.......

Where Oh Where did all the speed go??????

I mean these things aren't like tires..they shouldn't "Wear" out!

I was Stable at 161 FSB *10 for 1610 MHZ..

Heat has Never been a problem!!!

Now my Best is 150 FSB *10.5 for 1575 MHZ

I just can't go out and buy another 180.00 M/B 'till I'm convinced that something went KABLOOIE!!!!

I was just told that it may be a problem with the abitkt7a mobo. What board are you guys using that are experiencing this problem?

Having the exact same problem with my 1.4TB, worked stable @1.61 when i first got it 134 x 12, but know i cant get it above 1.59, 132 x 12, i know it dont sound like much of a loss, but i was hopeing to go higher than 1.61 with better cooling. Not much chance of that now!

Im using an Abit KT7A, so wouldnt mind finding out what this problem is dmc.

Just might have to get a new mb, woz thinking about DDR anyhow!:D

I've been trying to change everything I can think of to get back some of my lost speed and stability...

so far No-Go!!!!

I guess the M/B is TOAST..as I feared......

So....now I have to WAIT for the new ASUS A7V266A board...

The KT266A looks like the chip to beat anyway......

And I'm not even using the RAID on this M/B So I guess it's time to cut my losses...
