i was talking to my friend and he was telling me about how agp 16x is gonna pwn PCI-e... i thought that PCI-e was basicly agp 16x. can someone please explain to me what he is talking about?

The AGP standard is being retired in favour of PCI-e. AFAIK there will be no further advancements in AGP. In fact, I believe that ATI is only releasing one more generation of AGP cards. nVidia is only releasing PCI-e for their next gen.

He's quite clearly full of bullplop.

Considering that even AGP 8x is not utilized fully by today's video cards, I doubt AGP 16x, (which does sort of exist, but only was something that nVidia was playing with) would be beneficial if it reach the retail market, which as Oni pointed out will never happen.

thx alot guys, i had never heard of AGP 16x and thought i was missing something big...
