Anyone? Planning to replace my current hs and was going to go for SK6 but then heard about this one. Looking for advice from anyone who has one. How difficult is it to install? Regrets, any?

There aren't many who would have this one yet. You will be pioneering. It has just come out but the reviews put it up there with the Swiftech MC462 which for it's price is saying a lot. I wanted to buy one but they don't make it for my cpu yet. You can't go wrong but there may be some noise issues if you need a quiet system. Go to www.inflowdirect.com. and read the specs. Also the front page has a review and /or head to head on this one.

I think the PAL8045 will be GOOD!

oc.com reviewed it. Looks good.

I like my PAL 8045 so far, I picked up one of the very first ones from PCNut. I'm using the Sunon HO fan they sell. It's much quieter than my FOP-38 with the screamer Delta, and it cools even better, 49C full load is about the highest i see vs 55C with the FOP...I can't imagine what the Delta 80 MM screamer would do with it...

Yea, my mb is on the compatability list at Inflow! Thanks for the replies. Have decided to give it a try. Noise is a big concern and I like the idea of good performance w/o needing a hoover in my machine. Thanks guys...

It is badass! it is huge so make sure it will fit your mobo. sorry but won't work on most intel boards or any that i know of. It is heavy too so make sure you screw in your mobo well ;)

I got teh 50cfm YS from svcompucycle.com with the hsf for 53shipped. now I need a new chip :(

afaik, and from the oc.com results, the sk6 still does a btter job.

True the SK6 performs better, but the alpha bests ALL comers with the delta 68 monster fan, but i think the point is that people want reasonable noise levels and good cooling, and the best of the best 6 months ago are easily squashed by the 8045 with quiter fans, my rig sounds like it has a couple extra case fans now <basically it does, the sunnon spins a bit quicker so it sounds a bit more than just one extra> rather than a few case fans and a jet engine

The SK6 /w the Delta 68cfm will beat any heatsink out there on the market, including the Swiftech mc462 and the Alpha 8045. This combo gives me better temp than many people's water cooling temps in this forum (cpu speed/wattage already taken into consideration).

Remember that 80mm fans can be used with the SK6 without any adapter or any kind of modification.

well with the 0845 you can use a 80 to 92 adapter adn basically destroy your little copper hs. this heatsink is teh best adn will run much cooler and quieter than the sk6 with delta black label. I believe anandtech did a big review adn the alpha took first place and only cost a little bit more. hell you can even put on a 21db panaflo and hear your harddrive again ;)

That's why you use 80mm fans with the SK6, duh! There're no 92mm fans that can beat the Delta 68cfm (unless you use an even noisier AND higher output Delta 92mm fan). You'll probably need a 100cfm 80 or 92mm fan on the Alpha in order to beat the SK6 + Delta 68.

And an Alpha 8045 + Delta 68 or Swiftech 462 + Delta 68 combo only gives similar performance to (or at most 1-2 C better than) the SK6 + Delta 38. But SK6 + Delta 68 will get about 4-5 C lower temperature than the SK6 + Delta 38. That means the SK6 is the best of these 3 heatsinks. This is just common sense; I don't know why some of you people have so much trouble understanding it.

well the alpha will do better than most especially if you don't want a screamer it is the best air cooler that won't make you deaf yes you may get a little more with the sk6+80mm hairdryer but at what noisy level? the alpha will also be able to handle a bigger load as shown in the anandtech article. at 70watts maybe they are equal or sk6 better. but at 120watts can teh sk6 still handle it? I think the mass of the alpha(read size of Al softball) will help with the massive overclocks for 1.8+ at high vcores. they cost about the same and the sk6 is easier on and off but I still think until you try/see one out you won't appreciate the hsf.
