Im getting fed up with ATT's unresponsive behavior in regards to my connection.

Has any one else had there cable modem show activity even when there computers off?

and why would my connection pause randomly and not allow me to get any packets, even though my activity light is doing its flickering?

this is starting to **** me off and maybe its time to find a new carrier

The light on your modem will flicker when your pc is off sometimes because it is on a network, dont worry about it.
And the random pauses in your connection gould be due to lost packets that are trying to be resent

Yep, mine does that all the time and my speeds are WAY down too. I'm only getting 300k down and 20k up

what does 300k up and 20k down mean? 300k download speed and 20k upload speed?

My @home has been flaky for a few days but seems to have settled down tonight.

I missed the thing about the virus attacking port 80. Might that explain why I haven't been able to run an http server on that port? The server works fine on 81, but not on 80. I tried both with and without my firewall. I figured @home was just blocking the port to keep people from running servers.

ya know , my network was doing that too, when i first hooked up my cable router for my network, my net would just hang every ten mins or so, then one day it just started working fine, never have had a prob with it since, im happy now, but a few weeks back i wanted to throw the darn router out the window.

hmmm, well i'm definitely not a business. And we're talking a very low traffic server. Fortunately it's not terribly hard to switch everything to port 81. It's not like I can really call them and ask them not to block 80 so I can run a server that's agains the user agreement.

My activity light never blinked like it does now until the first wave of code red hit.My speeds fluctuate so much now its crazy, sometimes its worse than 56k.There is no dsl or other cable provider in my area so im stuck with this for now. I have had @home for 2 years now and this year has been really bad but i think its mainly from the amount of people getting it here,i always see there van around. Man i remember when we didnt even have an upstream cap!

I've had @HOME here in Pittsburgh for about a year now. I've seen the activity light flickering for as long as I can remember, I've checked the log on my router and see that nothing's getting through. I think that I read that they're constantly running tests to verify the system's integrity.

As far as connection speed, mine has fluctuated between a bit more than 1700 to 3000Mbs, usually around 2200/2500. It's been fairly consistent at that.

I've only had one outage that I'm aware of, about three weeks ago for ten minutes, other than that it's been 24/7 for a year.

I couldn't be happier other than the price increase to $49.99. But then again with five systems on behind the router , I have no right to complain.
