Going from 98, it's worth it. Going from 2000, it isn't. And if everyone used warez for it, the next os wouldn't exist, or you'd get WPA up the wazoo.

I also have the chance to install Win Xp over my long used Win98. I still haven't seen anyone mention here that we should use this new OS over win98. I helped my brother get it and he installed and he loves it but he had win ME. I haven't been over to his house to check it out.
So what do you people suggest should we install it or not over win98?

I have been running windows XP Pro for about 1 month now ... and all i can say is .. that tomorrow i will be installing windows 2000 pro again .. the only changes i came across was the "new design" witch suck bigtime .. and the ability to use old windows 95/98 files.... besides of that ... it draind the system for resourses .. and had a certain donald duck feeling over it ...
after 1 month i would recomend win 2k users to hold on to their OS ... and for win 98/me users... FFS .. upgrade to win 2000 ;)

had win98...then 2000pro. Now I have a dual 98/xp pro system (didn't want a fully dedicated xp system unti I decided whether or not I liked it). So far xp is superior. Stability of 2000pro with the compatability of 98. I can play lots of games with xp that I couldn't with 2000. And it recognized my scanner and camera, which work with 98 and not 2000. I think it looks cool, but if you don't like it, there's an option for the "traditional" look in the properties.

Overall, I'd say go with XP for its stability and universal compatability

If you want to install it on two computers - no.

Activation codes, anyone?

You should go for 2000Pro. Most of the bugs are cleared, and it is extremely stable.

I personally dont like XP very much. It's slow.
Take a look here (http://www.w2knews.com/rd/rd.cfm?id=110101-WaitingForXP)

I think W2K is good but W98SE is faster - esp for gaming. ME I stay miles away from!!

Personally I love Windows XP I've been trying it since Build 1000's ...

If your going to install on multiple computers than definitly not..

98 isn't all good for gaming you should see XP results..

All you have to do is get the lastest drivers and the Refresh Rate Fixer if you have an nVidia card..

XP is such a good os.. Stablity is I give it a 10 ... and its compatible with everything I've used!

That would be against the rules. No warez talk on the forum, please.
