Asked this before , but problem hasn't been solved
When right clicking in IE5 in W2Kpro it takes between 5 and 10 seconds for the menu to appera. WHY???? or better, how to fix this.
In IE5 under Win98 the same setup has not trouble at all, right click is instant. IS this a W2K bug? if so, how do I swat it?

Depends on the machine... the context menus are created on the spot from information in the registry. If the machine is a slower computer, ie: a pentium, then retrieving the information will be slower for it (my pentium takes lots of time to do that aswell). Other factors include hard drive speed (how fast it can read the registry off the hard drive), amount of RAM (repeated right clicks should be almost instantaneous to come up), and how many programs installed -> more specifically the registry size & amount of information it has to sort though.
The easiest way to speed this up is to get a windows util called "RegCleaner", you'll find it all over the place, run that, it'll clean out your registry of bad, or old entries and speed it up a bit.
The best way to speed it up is to format and reinstall from scratch.
If you have a really fast machine, but just IE runs slow, and not much else, then try reinstalling IE.

Umm...su root....check my signature..you think the speed of my machine is the problem? :D
But I'll try the reg-clean trick, see what that does, thanks
If I re-install IE, do i need to backup my favourites and dial up connection, or does it simple take them over ?

Actually, the "1.024 MB SDRAM pc 133" is a little weird.. but I assume you mean one Gig of RAM... ;) (b/c you can't install win9x,me w/o atleast 4 mb.)
Your favorites are saved, but it'll add a few to your Links Bar.
Your settings will stay aswell, the only thing that may be messed up is your "Advanced settings" tab... i've noticed that that changes when i repair, or reinstall IE.
You should consider upgrading to IE6, it's a little bit better.

Well weird for you maybe, but here we use a point instead of a comma to seperate the thousands from the hundreds, and we use the comma for decimals, so for me 1.234,56 is 1,234.56 for you?
I cosidered upgrading to IE6 and see if this solved it, but my firewall doesn't work with IE6 (yet) so that's a no-no for now...
I had the same problem before ... but then i installed alla lastest patches and MSIE 6 ... and now there is no delay!
