How much money would you like to spend?
Cheap: Kyro II / Radeon LE
Medium priced: Radeon 64MB DDR
High End: Wait till Radeon 8500 gets available.
Just my 2 cents!
I know there are many people here that would recommend the Nvidia Series instead, but I prefer picture quality over pure Frame rates!

You could go w/ a GF2 Ultra (one of the best gamer cards) or the new GF3 Ti 200, both w/ 64 mg ram. These are both available for under $200. I prefer the Ultra, just for the fact there are'nt games out that use GF3 technology.

You could also look at the Radeon 32 DDR. Around $70 from newegg.com.

The bad you've probably heard is their driver problems. When they released the Radeon line, they fixed their notorious driver problems, and the card flat out rocks. Limiting yourself to Nvidia will leave no other option then to pay out the big bucks for their fancy shmancy cards that are getting beaten by cheaper cards(8500 vs GF3)
That's funny. Radeon beating the pants off the GeForce cards. I'll put my GF3 card (OCZ Titan3) up against any Radeon on the market today and will whip their wimpy butts...lol. Really though, Radeon does make some good cards nowadays, but I still prefer the GeForce line. Like was said Jascar, how much money do you have to spend? That's the deciding factor. Can't go wrong with a GF2 Ultra like was mentioned, they are awesome cards and really rock. You are right about needing a really good vid card if the rest of your system is sort of under powered.
thanks to all im really thinking about waiting for ati radeon 8500 im hearing alot of good here and see alot of ppl using ati

The ATI Radeon 8500 is a good card. It is consistantly benching higher than the GForce 3. Now consider the fact that it is $50-$100 cheaper. Has more options (better 2D, industry leading DVD, Video in and out), and it looks better, and has better color than a GForce 3, and you have a better investment with the ATI.
