Getting ready to build my first network, I have decided to go with the netgear RT314 Router/Switch, just wondering if this linksys NIC is a good one or not, this is my first network and really have no idea what I am getting into, i think I need just any old 10/100 NIC to do the job right. Any suggestions are appreciated. THX

I've got one too. Decent card...just like the rest I have.

I believe it's the only NIC I've got that Win2K doesn't have a generic driver for though. That's no big deal, however.

OC Community,

I've had a little troubel with the Linksys LNE100TX. I tried to get it working for a year on my home network (CABLE, Linksys 4 port broadband router/4 port switch) and it wouldn't go. I tried it though 3 OSs and 2 different cards, I've tried everything. I finally relented and got a 3COM XL 3C990TX card with 169 bit hardware encryption and 3xp processor. It flys I love it. I bought 2 more on Ebay,a bit spendy, but worth it.

looking for somthing a little(lot lol) less than $90. $15 - $20 is about all I can do right now, unless anyone knows if this router (or any other) will work with the USB NIC's provided by Broadband, I have a couple of them, but I don't think they will work.

Go to Best Buy and get a D-Link NIC for $9.97 then. I'm pretty sure they're still at that price.

I've got 4 of them and they work perfectly.

I've got the exact same NIC in my pc for my cable internet. I do not have a router as of yet. But so far the card works fine for me. I did have a hell of a time trying to update drivers for it. Just did'nt want to take. Said it did but card would'nt work. Finally did enough messing around and got it to go.
