I am in desperate need of a new cooler.

Please recommend me the best that I can buy for my CPU.

The noise must be LESS than 40 Decibels.

glaciator will probably give ya best results under minimal noise

Go with one of those new alpha coolers at 2cooltek. It performs well and you can get one with a 80mm panaflo fan thats only 21dba. Heres the link: Alpha Heatsink (http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/32/275.htm?398)

that new alpha HSF looks sweet :) but one thing though is only 26cfm :( isnt that a bit low? eventhough the reviews show good results. I'll like to see some more reviews :)

That is low but he demands low noise and thats the trade off. He didnt say he wanted to do some xtreme overclocking so im pretty sure a heatsink like that and a decent fan could go a little ways.

I prefer versatility so I'm designing my highend HSF with a Rheostat that allows me to go afterburner when I need it or chill when I don't. Figured you'ed understand that analogy Mek.;)

I used a CAK38 HS and added a 8cm Panaflo Case Fan on it using a cheap plastic 6cm to 8cm convertor
well my temps went up by only 1C-2C (i think the temp should be the same bcause i took off one of my case fans to do this, if i add it back on then i think the temp will decrease by 1C-2C)
but best of all it is very very quiet compared to the Delta 38
but as !-=sky=-! has sed use a metal one it'z better
and plus i got my cheap 6cm to 8cm convertor only for something like $5 U.S dollar
so the quality is really ...

well the svcompucycle model comes with a YS fan at 50CFM and 36dB so I think that is the way to go and under 40dB.

Thank you all for your replies

mEKbOY ,

The coolers you suggesting they seem to me more like case fans! lol

Please tell me more, only the Millennium Glaciator is for me?

What about those Zalman?

you could use an sk6 with a ys tech fan instead of a loud delta.

Random Nonsense

go with glaciator or the new alpha.... from what iveheard the zalman isnt acutally that quiet.

Anything else except Glaciator as a good copper quiet choise?

hyperbob

Yes but watch out cause its heavy! I still say go with the sk6.

Do you mean ThermalRight SK-6?

http://www.thermalright.com/sk6-2.jpg
FC-PGA Socket A/370

All copper design for maximum performance
Soldered fins to base to ensure effective contact
Maximum efficiency thermal pad – Gelvet
Free upgrade fan holding wire for Delta 60 x 60 x 38
fan

L64 x W64 x H31.6 (mm) -- Buttom
Weight: 330g
Fan Maker: DELTA

Intel: P-IIICoppermine 1 GHz and above Celeron 800 MHz and above

AMD: Thunderbird up to 1.33 GHz and higher Duron 850 MHz and higher

What's the difference between SK-6 and SK-5.?
And what's is the difference between SK-6 and SK-6ab?
The only change is the weight? It has anything else to do with perfomance?

I believe SK-5 is better.

yes that one!
I have one and it kicks a$$!!!!!!!!!!
I can get to 1.6GHz no prob with that thing. Just get a quieter ystech fan cause you don't like noise.
The SK6 is better cause it has more copper and it is taller.
GET IT NOW!

According to Thermalright, it 28 Decibel are very quiet!
Specially against my 46.5!

Can you suggest me an online store?
Those things are not available in my country #$%$%*****!!!

Ps. Oh by the way, I have noticed we have same cpu.
What's your temp under load? And you have other fans on your machine? Do you use the standard SK-6 fan?

hyperbob

No I use a 60 mm delta 38 fan. Loud but I got used to it.
I am overclocked to almost 1.6 and load temps are about 41-42C
I leave the side panel off most of the time.

Don't get the Zalman 5000, it's not quiet!

I'd say get the Alpha 8045 and stick a quiet 80mm fan on it.

Satch

I think I'll go with copper.

But which is better, Glaciator or SK-6?
Glaciator has a 10 CFM air flow more from SK-6.

I believe SK-5 is better.

the 330gram is hard to find and I believe works the same as the 230gram version(230 might even be better)

the alpha is very lite at 520grams!! the sk6 will not out perform the alpha without a screamer adn you said lower than 40 not lower than 55dB.

Actually, check this out Heatsink/Heatpipe (http://www.bit-tech.net/?page=article&id=98)

The site probably doesn't use an effective way to check the temps, but it still looks quite effective...

Go with Alpha or Swifttech and put a low noise 80mm on both.
Or use a 80mm Delta with Rheostat, (High Performance when you need it, and low noise levels when you want it quiete)

Swifty

Go for the Swiftech MC462. I've got one with a Sonon fan, which is pretty quiet at 36 dba, and puts out a sufficient airflow. (42.5 cfm)

Gets my Thunderbird 1200 to 1400 rock stable. temps: 42c idle and 48c load. (room temp 23 degrees celcius)

LOL now I am confused!!

I want one standard solution, not to buy a cooler then change the fan, paint the cooler, drill the cooler etc...

A complete product.

el: What do you mean when saying: the sk6 will not out perform the alpha without a screamer adn you said lower than 40 not lower than 55dB.

Anthrax: WHAT IS THIS MONSTER???
ANYONE ELSE, DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT THIS ZEN FAN PERFORMS BETTER THAN THE 2 OTHERS?
