I've got 2 old AGP cards and I'l use one for a cheap rig for my brother. It'll have about a 1ghz AMD.

Matrox 32MB G400 Dualhead
or
ASUS 16MB V3800 TNT2 RIVA

i'm pretty sure the matrox compares against a geforce 256/geforce 2 so if you want the card with the best performance, use that... if you just want something that can display a picture, go with the tnt2 and sell the matrox... or... something...

Thanks. Or maybe I should sell them both and get a better card.... Naw, it's only for lite gaming and web surfing. I'v got it running with a 700mhz Duron for now, with the Matrox. It's at least better than the 200mhz with onboard 2mb video he was using before. I would like to smash that thing up, I've never hated a computer so much. Pure garbage.

hey i want to it to play gta2,madden 2003 farcry and some other newer games, so ithink were talking about heavy gaming.
NOTE: i'm paying for the pc and i don't got alot of money.

The matrox compares more directly with the TNT Ultra, and would probably be the better card for gaming, and has much better video quality.

As far as Farcry is concerned, you can forget it. I don't think it meets minimum specs, and the game probably won't even let you install.

Madden 03 would probably run ok, and GTA2 would fine, while GTA3 would require some serious downgrading of graphics settings.

Overclock your duron and get a better video card. There are plenty of GF4s to be had on ebay cheap.

There was a guy on gamefaqs who reportedly got Far Cry running on low details pretty well with a mere 933mhz P3 w/FX5200.

I have a dual tualatin, and farcry runs beautifully with the x800.

i think you could get farcry running on that pc with a better card and (if you need it) more ram but it wouldn't be very pretty.

FarCry would run ok with a better graphics card and a 1.3 Duron, not sure if it would run well at higher settings, but it would run.
