Just got my new Abit 1C7 and after fixing a lot of problems. Windows is slow as ****. PC wizard says 2 x 512mb @200 mhz why isnt it running the ram at 400 mhz? It is pc3200...I loaded the defaults in the bios and it still doing the same thing. I also tried a different brand of ram and its still running slow. Any one know whats going on?

its ddr(double data rate) its supposed to run at 200 X 2 = 400. Try sandra or memtest86+. also post some screen shots so we can help you.

Here is what pc wizard is telling me about my ram im running a p4 2.0ghz

download cpuz from here . run it
and you should see something like this image. press alt+printscreen then paste in paint . you can then upload

I have dual channel Consair 512mb x 2 and Geil 512mb x 2 installed. Alls I did was swap out motherboards and the computer speed is 10 times slower. When window boots it takes like 5 mins to load...

are you running a 2.0 proc? thats your problem it won't support dual ddr or 800 fsb you will have to lower it in the bios to 533 or 400 mhz.

you can try to overclock your proc by upping fronside bus to match your memory but the abit dont like to overclock with 4 sticks . iwould sugesst you upgrade your proc to macth your memory with at least a 2.4c proc.

intel proc specs

I plan on buying a faster chip soon. I still don't understand what is causing the problem....

at 2.7 ghz

DDR-SDRAM PC2900 Frequency : 181 MHz

Windows is so slow i feel like im on my old p1 100 mhz...

Im about to put my Soyo motherboard back in this is sad...

Literally that slow? Then likely means:

The L1 and L2 caches are disabled in the BIOS!!!

-or-

The HDD is in PIO mode!!!

------------------------------------------------

Make sure that the L1 and L2 caches are enabled!!!

Make sure that UDMA is enabled!!!

No I did not format the hard drive but I reinstalled windows...I can't find L1 and L2 cache setting in the bios. Now scan disk deleted half my files on my D: drive over 186 gb of data WTF.
