View Full Version : Why doesn't my system start up?
Why can't I get my system working with 1200 mhz. Everytime I remove the jumper and set the fsb to 133 the loading of windows inerupts, and the computer restarts. I am now running at 100 * 9... When I set to 133 * 9 It crashes. The d-leds also shows that the system hangs at memory testing if I restart from BIOS after setting the jumper to 266fsb.
I've tested everything, like running the system with minimal configuration.
Please help me someone..
This is the system:
Msi K7t turbo based on the Via kt133a chipset
Amd athlon 1200 mhz 266 fsb
1 * 256mb sdram 133mhz
1 * 128mb sdram 133mhz
Geeforce 2 64mb
340W Psu (Amd ok)
Hello!
Maybe your motherboard doesn’t like your memories. Try to remove the 256Mb module and boot your system whit only 128Mb if that doesn’t work try a friends memory modules and see if it works, it is not to unusual that motherboards docent work whit all brands of memory’s. Do you use good quality memories like corsair or Samsung? Don’t use any no name crap.
Well, i bought one good amd okej (It's a Amd recommanded memory module) The 256mb.
I tried to unplugg the 128 module (This is not recommanded, but it works when I have 100fsb) but then I got a windows general protection fault when i tried to startup.
Hello!
I don’t think that madders if your motherboard doesn’t like the memory modules you have. I still think you should try some other memory modules from a friend so you can se if it is the memory’s that are the problem or not.

Have you checked the temps? a friend of mine has a 1200 and is forced to run at 900 mhz as the temps are just silly. its keeps crashing at 1200! if temps are ok (under 55 Celsius) then i would try removing all but one memory stick. are you running PC133 memory? as if its PC100 it will probably crap out at 133 MHZ, my bro's craps out at anything over 120 Mhz FSB....
I can run 900mhz at 65c stabile. And when I go to 1200 the temp goes to 60c in bios :(
Im going to fix artic silver paste.. How it lowers some. And some case fans.
And, another thing. I think the 128 module is broken. It has been instabile before. I got windows protection error with that one installed, but if I removed it worked perfectly.
Hello!
There you see. And 60-65 C is defiantly too much. Max 50 C if you want it to run stable.
Okej.
My friend's amd 1400 mhz is at 61 idle 68-70 in games etc ;)
I told him, but he just says it's working, so why care.
