Q2 will not open port

Im using a bat to launch a q2 server from within my q2 folder and it starts the lithium game but nobody can connect.Netstat shows ports not open.If I use q2 option for multyiplayer game and start a dm game then type ( set game lithium set dedicated 0 set port 27910 enter then type exec server.cfg) then game restarts and peeps can join.I have .bat in q2 folder/server.cfg in the lithium mod folder and heres my .bat command line. Whats wrong with this setup? I know theres launchers I can use but would like to do it this way.

are you running a firewall of any kind ?

Yes zap but it works thru it when I launch it the long way so zap is not the prob.Its something with the game not launching network server---not advertising to the network that there is a game running.

im not sure do not qoute me but i think you have to DL the latest hmm server mod? i mean like...if you play CS you kno you have to updayt the Loist to beable to join most games but i think it works the same way?

Got it -- cant launch network game from a .bat file for some reason.I made a copy of of q2.exec then put in the command line that was in the .bat and it works great.
