quick question. has anyone heard of a usb device that needs more power than say a mouse, not working because of a struggling powersupply?
do u have more than one thing on a hub that doesnt have it's own power?
a mouse would use so little power..shouldnt matter

im not on a hub... I have a mouse and the zen micro directly into the ports....

I have some 6-in-1 USB card readers that prevent machines from booting normally if they're plugged in. And devices that draw above or close to 500ma are at the maximum for the USB specification and have been known to cause compatibility issues.

you think a bigger powersupply would power it enough?

Are your voltages within spec now? Specifically 5V+

yea inthe creative forums they say the mp3 player probably uses the max... would more power be the solution... or is there a problem with the power being routed to the proper ports.

omg, I got a new Forton Blue 500 watt supply and my micro is still not working... what can give the usb more power?
That doesn't seem right.. did you try unplugging every other USB device? I assume you did. Are these the ports soldered onto the motherboard? Or are they front USB ports or something. Try using a differen't USB cable.

i updated chipset... usb patch from microsoft.... i dont think it is software... It worked one time... but never again ... sometimes it gets on but freezes before you can do anything.

says its needs 5v to power this...
USB is 5v already. This might be a stupid question, but does the mp3 player have an adapter or anything like that? Or does it have to be on when you connect it to the USB port? It might need some external power while its on the usb. You usb ports might be fudged otherwise.

didnt happen exactly after bios upgrade... about half hour later... just died!
HELP!
Look's like you're going to have to RMA your board. It's dead then. Grab a USB to PS/2 adapter for your mouse until then. If you can't wait to RMA your board, then I suggest you hop on Ebay to buy a PCI USB 2.0 controller card.

err, i was being a douche bag... its working.... but still not working for my zen... so it may be still "faulty" from before....
my motherbord is still screwed from the bios upgrade... i think its because i updated without resetting my overclock options...
