Hi All. Been looking at PSU's which are available to me locally (South Africa) as there is limited choice and I CANNOT IMPORT A PSU :)

I wanted to get your thoughts on this one:
Vantec ION II (http://www.vantecusa.com/p_ion2.html)

This is for a NON-OVERCLOCKED system, A64 3000+, 2 optical drives, one HDD, 6600GT AGP. The system thus doesn't have a major power requirement. It is currently with an Antec TruePower 330W and is very stable, with zero problems.

With the new case I will buy comes a new PSU choice. The aim is something powerful enough for the system, but must be quiet too. I like the looks of the Vantec ION II so far as it has gotten great reviews, has a quiet 120mm fan, and comes with sleeved cables.

The only one I would think as an alternative is the Antec TruePower 2 380W but that is far more expensive. As I said, very limited choice here. I can get Vantec, Antec, Zalman, Thermaltake, AOpen. I would have thought about AOpen as they used to be Fortron made, but not anymore :( . I was also considering the Thermaltake SilentPower 360W or even the SilentPower 410W if I can get it at a good price.

Cheers,
X

The Vantec might do for non-overclocked, but is weak on the 12v where most of your power needs are. I would suggest looking for the Antec True 2's in your case - not a whole lot of good choices there. Zalman and Aopen both use Fortron, but these are still older units with low 12v capacity (if I had to choose I would suggest the Zalman 400w). Aopen has not switched away from Fortron yet.

Thermaltake has a newer HEC made 460w dual rail unit - see if you can find that one as well (w0063 or w0064 - the 63 model has PFC).
