I finally succeded in overclocking the 400 chip to 475 & run stable w/ 3.0Vcore. The Vcore is very high so all I did was to take some snapshots of the comp oc'ed...

Heh, nice one. Looking at that it works out at around an 18% overclock. My old K6-2 450 hit 523Mhz which is around 16%
To get it to that I used a SocketA hsf with delta. Boy, you must have some serious cooling to get a higher % clock than my old rig.
Personally, I couldn't stand the K6-2. It was so godamn slow. Even after a massive overclock it was only marginally faster than before. In the end I bought the Duron rig listed below for my friends to play on. I use the 1.6Ghz Athlon rig :)

I ran it on 3.0V just for not more than 20 mins... I don't want to screw this chip up cause if I do then I'll have to buy a new chip+mobo like a duron 600? anyway I don't have the $$$ for it so I went right back to 450 @ 2.7Vcore after taking the benches...
Good job!
<<<To the left is a picture of the K6III+450 that I "used" to run @ 616MHz. Power supply went bad at the same time as the CPU. Could it be a coincidence?
You're right the K6III's in particular are getting pricey, if you can find one. I had to replace mine with a K6-2 450 that doesn't even come close.

How did you remove the CPUs cap? I tried cutting the glue, but it took too long for my taste...
And another thing: Would a 486 chip be a reasonable keychain? Would it be worth the drilling? Its the only CPU I may get free...
