Yeah, where are the X900 cards? The 7800 are available at newegg now. Maybe it's time to head back to nvida?

Well they aren't ready hehehe, it has been delayed, a couple of article say that they are having problem to get it working and are calling them the next FX line. But I haven't heard anything that had any proof to it.

"This delay is old news and I have told you all about it for a while now.

Expect the r520 no sooner than the holiday season."

so sad!

after the X800 fiasco now this. i thinks its time to start chopping some heads at ATI. at first they said its no big deal about the X800 blunders because is such a small part of the biz. now for the past 6 months all they do is blame their losses around it. :p

bunch of carpet baggers if you ask me!

Where is this quote? It's not in the article you've attached. Everything I'm seeing says July 26 (http://216.239.39.104/translate_c?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&langpair=de%7Cen&u=http://www.vr-zone.com/%3Fi%3D2290%26s%3D1&prev=/language_tools) will be the release date of the R520....not christmas time?

I would rather wait and get a working card, then have them be like the FX line.

I'd trust the globe article by far over the VR Zone one.

wanab, what Forum are you referring to? Can you point us to the thread(s) where the ATI employee/moderator has commented about this?

I think he's referring to HardOCP. I used VR zone as a link but saw several sites that mention July26. I wouldn't go calling anyting FX yet...many vendors have process problems. Not all have dud products as a result. ATI hasn't released an inferior product (Intel's first 1GHz processor comes to mind)...they've delayed it to improve the yield. Certaintly no reason to start crapping on the product...none of us have seen the real results yet.

Either way...I think most of us are smart enought to wait this one out and see what happens.

Me said 7600GTX...not 7800GTX.

But I agree with Sen, I'm waiting for the X900 to see which of these cards is really the one to get.

According to the article, their inventory hit 96 days.
That's bad. Inventory on THEIR shelves means the stores aren't buying the card. That means the stores are selling a lot of their cards. Hmmm. And now they have a new card coming out, and allegedly delayed until the holidays. My best guess is, if the rumor about the delay is true, that they are delaying the release until the holidays so tey can delete some of their inventory. Otherwise their inventory could easily hit 100-120 days since the older products wont move as quickly as the new product. Now, if I were ATI I would be concerned about the inventory (gawd I have used that term a lot) just sitting. That means the supply is greater than the demand, caused by a shift in demand for their product. To bring the supply and demand more in line, their best bet is to drop their prices. Woot! I would also bet another way to decrease their unsold product would be to not repair any RMAs but send out new cards. Also upgrade any RMA that comes in instead of repairing it. They can then write off the upgrades/RMAs as a loss, or budget it into their operating costs. I would say we are going to see the drops in prices mid-July. These are just my opinions. :)

I could have swore I saw a link yesterday at Anandtech saying it would likely be delayed till August, but for the life of me I can't find it.
