stepping question

I have a couple of questions about the stepping. First off where do you find the stepping code? And what are the better codes? And what can you expect to get out of them.

what stepping codes are good depends upon the CPU for example the AXIA which is a reportedly good 1 ghz Althlon stepping can not be found on a Duron 700, the better stepping codes generally obtain a higher overclock than other CPU's in the class
