I purchased an AMD 1.4/266.......Retail Box for warr reasons...anyway wow the CPU temps are high....Does AMD know there CPU with a stock fan idles at 46-47 celcius....This can't be ok ....right??????

Well, they probably do...the know how much heat their processors put out and all...and how crappy the hsfs are. What it's running at isn't really bad for the chip...unless your load temps are much higher than that. I'd say that you're good up to about 60oC load. If you get higher than that, you're in trouble.

The HSF's that come with the Chip is kinda very crappy
u should get some better cooling like get a CAK38
or watacooling!

stock heatsinks suck. plain as that....check out the HSF recommendations on the front page. go for something .20 or lower (lower is better with respect to C/W ratings)


to instantly lower your temps 3-5 C lap your heatsink and put arctic silver 2 on it. www.arcticsilver.com
