Yesterday i popped a hercules 9800 XT card in to run some tests and 20mins after having it in.... bang....... aweful smell PC screen = blue screen and lines, so thought end of that card, how right was I, a capacitor on it blew up very good.

Not sure what caused this, someone might know, doubt I can repair it.

www.sonjac.karoo.net/CardF.jpg the one circled is blown.
and the picture shown is obviously not like that

Anything I can do with this card now?

if you can desolder that one, and find an exact match, you may be able to bring it back to life by replacing it.

was this card oc'd? is your warranty still intact? you could try to RMA if that's the case.

If you haven't already voided your warrenty, definatly RMA the sucker. Capacitors aren't supposed to just blow up :D Otherwise, definatly give soldering a try (if you can't solder, see if you can find somebody who can).

yeah find an identical component and solder it on. apacitators are easy to solder.
