Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

God I hope not...

Cut up a perfectly good box for this mock-up.
The idea behind this is that I a) want to give up computer gaming, which means getting rid of my Ti4200, b) want something a little smaller than my perfectly good, brand new, SLK3700 Antec BQE and C) want it sturdy, cheap, good looking, and easy to transport. I also want to be able to run Matlab & AutoCAD semi-OK. SO:

Why stuff an
-Asus mATX nVidia NF2 10"x10" board
-PowMax 180w eMachines PSU pull
-250GB WD "SE" 7200 IDE (*quick drive*)
-Lite-On 52x RW & DVD
-2600+ Mobile
-2x512 Kingmax DDR400
-Spire (as in expire) HSF

into a 10" by 10" by 6" box? Oh, hell, I don't know...

More pics to follow.

you should keep the 4200 for movies and just eye appeal :)

I can't believe you would ruin a good carboard box for this.

Then again you could just keep the box idea and just have UPS send it to the Lan Parties for you and have it meet you there. LOL

So what are your plans for the real case?

Nay, guys, all those parts are just for mock up. I'm writing this with the parts that'll go in there.

Plans!?! Who the hell has time for plans?!?

Plexy?

Nah.

Plywood?

Yup yup. Some silly neighbor of mine left this about, and now it's MINE--ALL MINE!!

My jigsaw, always the prankster, decided to go with the old Sawdust-in-the-eye trick. Jokes on you, bud! I can cut plywood with one eye closed!

Or maybe not. In fact, after further consideration, the joke clearly lies on myself. Perhaps next time I'll use these:

suggestion: If you're going to paint plywood, your best bet is to primer it first with 2 or 3 coats. This will help with preventing the wood grain from showing through and looking too ghetto.
