Does anyone know how the stats work in BF2?

I know we arn't supposed to start BF2 threads, but I just wanted to know if anyone can explain how the stats work in BF2 and how you level up. I have been playing sice yesterday and it seems that not all of my stats register even though I played on ranked servers. Worst thing about this is the best games that I have played and got the top scores didn't register at all along with medals that I got, only three games that I played (at the beginning) registered in the stats and none of the others. This sucks because I have been playing hard to unlock the new kits and guns but the stats from the ranked servers just wont register at all.

Does anyone know why is it doing this and is anyone else having the same problem?
