View Full Version : How do you find your MAX Core/Mem?

And which max do you find first?
I was told to use ATITool 0.24
However, the program does not lock on a stable MAX Core/Memory. The program may run for about 2.5 hours and the results keep going lower and lower while the time for the specific core/memory MHz keeps resetting.
Appreicate any help.

the auto detect max clocks can be a little scary, do it manually and check with the artifact scanner for about a 1-2min, doing mem or gpu first doesn't matter but do one at a time, once you find the max clocks with atitool test it with 3dmark03 and see if there are any artifacts when looping Nature, then game for a couple of hours to make sure its stable

I'd say scrap the 1-2 min artifact scanning altogether. I get tons of artifacts when running it, however when looping nature or playing a game for hrs on end not one artifact appears.

Hmmm...pretty weird. Well, with the XT BIOS flash, my Core is at 412 now. I tried bumping it up to 430 (leaving memory default) and after about a minute, I come back to my computer and the core has been RESET to 412 and not 430 like I specified.
However, the time was not reset and it had no-errors.
Any suggestions?

Edit:
I think after manually inputting the data, I wasn't pressing the "Set Clock" button. I was just scanning for artificats. After pressing that, it took care of the problem.

Trying to max my memory out now. Test is running for 12+ minutes at 390MHz but I'm seeing green dots. However, ATITool will not re-set the time even though there are "errors" any ideas?

it should tell you how many errors there are at the bottom, you should be shooting for 0

I belive once it gets an error it re-starts the time...or when you're using the find max buttons, it restarts teh time and lowers the MHz certain amount.
