Suggestions:

1. We need a name.
2. What can I do to increase my RAC?
3. What do you need to build another cruncher. Maybe team-member has it!
4. We need to get Sir Barbarosa back in business. He is currently not crunching. (or maybe he IS back but no CS validated yet)
5. tell your friends, family and all you can think off about this race. Maybe do some work and claim the price as crunching time :cool:
6. Take some time (not to much) to dust off your machines to make sure they dont overheat.
7. Tell your wife, girlfriend, kids, mom, dog and cat to LEAVE THE PC ON!

Nope, that one stil KIA, need to see if the memory is OK....might be the culprit of that one beeing offline.

As for beeing in Team C......and looking back in all the race: In most of them, the team in which I've been has bbeen the winner in the end :D

Is everyone using the 4.11 optimized application?

I'm using an application file that was compiled with version 8.1 of Intel's C compiler. It's about 10min faster than application file that was compiled with version 7 of the compiler.

not sure what i have here, i was a little ****ed off to come home from school and see that my 2.7ghz a64 cruncher had an error saying something about a mismatched version so the bloody thing reset project! i had nerely done 10days of friggin work and it hadnt sent them back because i disabled boinc access so i could send them all back at once.. grrr.. still got the 2.2ghz AXP, 1.5ghz celery and 3.2ghz p4 running fine though, getting the a64 back up.. in a couple of weeks ill have a barton 2500+ to add, but itll have to wait until i can get all the parts arriving :(

Hey Team !!

On friday or maybe even thursday night i will be firing up my
2 dual xeon 3.0 systems. I will also turn on my Video/ftp/game
machine again. It's a dual xeon 2.6. On friday i will also have my new
laptop. P4 2.0 centrino. 2Mb cache. Hope these additions will make
our team come closer to being numero uno !!!

Just installed the optimized client on my P4 1.8 and my bro's 2.8, and shaved off quite a bit of time in both cases, so that should help out :) I'm also looking at borging a computer or two if I can convince the owners that 100% load for 24/7 is not the horrible thing it is (/me hopes tales of 4 years of full load on my main cruncher help :D)

I installed the latest version of the optimized client on my XP2500+ and it dropped the times about 20min to about 1:55 now.
A family member's XP2600+ on my account has been giving computing errors for a couple weeks and I was over there last night so I reinstalled boinc and used the optimized client. Now it's doing units in 2:40.
crazyastro tells me his dad has some machines lying around I could probably just take. Not sure what they are but apparently they were running Windows ME, so maybe P2 or P3?

I want to add a few things to the race page yet. Like coding for what it should do when a team reaches the goal. Also I want to add a +/-% for how much each person's weekly average and rac have changed since the beginning of the race.

just checked then, i have 120 WU pending atm, cant wait until i can get my 2500+ working :( i asked my school if i could install BOINC on the ~50 pcs in the computer labs, pending reply on that within the next few days.. they are all 2.0GHz celery's, but should make nice crunchers since they sit there and do nothing 24/7 :).. ill let you know

From my initial test the newest optimized client will shave around 15-30 minutes from the already low times. Get it now pals.

I find that it gives quite a bit higher benchmarks than the other optimized BOINC clients. These benchmarks still aren't high enough that a SETI WU will claim ~30 credits, but it comes closer than any other one I've used.

In the event that we suffer a lack of WU I'll keep crunching something until they are available. Hopefully sometime tonight Berkeley will move they're but to get us some new WU from Arecibo :D

Yep, that included all our power rigth now. I am still "working" on my brother - he has another XP-2500 (turned 2 - 8 hours per day for sure!) + my big brother also has a XP-2500. But I am not sure about this one. He has a pretty crappy PSU - so I am not sure it can take it. And it will be at least another month before next visit (as he is located 80+ miles away)

So thats about it - Friendship we have in unlimited supply :p You can´t beat us there.... :cool:

Currently, I have a 2.7ghz a64, 2ghz barton, 3.2ghz p4, 1.5ghz celery lp, 2.2ghz tbred b.. i can get to a 1.8ghz barton, but thats ~400kms away and im not going to be around that area for 2more weeks, but when i do get it up and running, its ~13.4ghz.. i feel a little bit bummed as school wouldnt let me use ~100ghz of their celery power, but im trying to find some more hosts, i will also have a 1.8ghz a64 to add in a few weeks too.. but yeah.. so all up, i can only have ~15.2ghz of crunchingness.. soz team :(

although on a lighter note, im ~50RAC from 40th place in ocforums :o

Have got my new p4 2.8 running at 3.6 on air using a Thermalright XP90-C & vantec 92mm fan temp is 49c all my rigs are going as fast as they can, just started to get credit rolling in for the new rig using boinc 4.68 which if any optimised client is best for this version.

OK. Something like that really annoys me. Why sign up for a race - and then NOT participate??Each team is based on every members output before the race. If someone dosent want in anyway its giving the team a bad start as the first increase of the race is actually just making up for someone.

Power added:

Wizard: Dual Xeon 3.0x2 - dual xeon 2.6 x 1 - Centrino 2.0= 19Ghz
Mictlan and Dk: xp-2500 = 1.86 Ghz
Vento1: P4 2.8 HT= 2.8 ghz
Jigpu: Put entire farm on 100% SETI?= ??
Careface: Will add A64 in a cuple of weeks (crossed fingers)
Stryfe: P4 1.8 Ghz
Total: 25,46 Ghz. + Jigpu´s RAC should climb a bit.

Anyone have anything else to add at this moment?? Mictlan and I are still crossing fingers for his new A64 - 3200 to arrive early - but chances are low ATM.

BTW Wizard......Have you maanged to get the Xeons on the optimized client If not just check with CPU id what kind of extensions they support (like SSE2 or SSE3) and then use the latest version found here (http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=15813).

If you are using a Xeon with SSE3 extension use YAOSCW-P-r8.1.zip
If you are using a Xeon with just SSE2 use YAOSCW-N-r8.1.zip.

I now have all the bits for my new rig ,have taken my 3ghz cpu out of my shuttle xpc and replaced it with my 2.8, the 3.0 is now on an albatron board have loaded operating sytem and drivers will sort out network and get seti running tomorrow its now 1:25 am i have drunk too much bear to carry on plus i have to be in work for 6 am (no chance of that).

Heya, got the A64 up and running (just before the outage too :D) opt cli and boinc.exe, so should be crunching in ~1h 10min :).. wont be able to get the barton up and running for another few weeks, until i can see my parents and convert them to boinc ;P

although it appears SETI is down at the moment, will have that 2500+ barton dedicated I promised crunching tuesday NZ time.. but the psu died on one of my crunchers at a 5day LAN i was at just recently so ive somehow got to find a way of getting a new one sometime soon x.x

Bad luck guys..My Barton 3000 has fried its mobo I think. It just keeps rebooting through startup. Has done all the usual. Changed the mem around. Tried another PSU. Checked the HD in another pc - there it runs fine as slave. So conclusion: Either mobo or CPU. So I will see if I can spare some cash for a mobo - otherwise this will be down for a long time. Did not bother to check the CPU. (I figured: If it can boot and restart the CPU must be fine :shrug: )

Update:

Talked to my wife - and she agreed that I have been a pure angel this last month or two. So she granted me the money for a mobo and and a new HD. So ordered today (ETA: within a week): Abit AN7 (dual ddr, S-ata, Raid, Nforce2 chipset)) and a Seagate 160Gb S-Ata HD. I went with the AN7 because that NF7-S is hard get around these days.
Also ordered a Zalman chipset cooler and will replace the fan on the northbridge rigth away (as they tend to die rather quickly)total cost is around 200$ - so I must have been a good boy :p
