I can't my duron 900 unlocked to use 133 FSB on my MSI K7T Turbo. It works fine at 1100Mhz(11*100) but I really want to push it to it's max performance with the 133 FSB. It just won't boot no matter what multiplier or Vcore I use(ex: 7.5*133 or 7*133). Got any ideas?? HELP!!!!!

Sorry dude, most Durons will not do 133mhz FSB unless it is a great stepping. What is yours?

What chipset is that mobo using?

Well my stepping is ANCA. It should do 133 like many other durons out there. My mobo is a MSI K7T Turbo using a VIA KT133A chipset.

Does the mobo have a jumper that you have to select 133fsb and up or is it jumperless?

There is a problem with the boards that have the jumper. Before they look at the bios for the multiplier you have set they look at the chip. This only happens for a split second before the bios can set it but most chips will crash before it is set by the bios. So your chip would be trying to boot at 1197 and I don't see that happening.

If it is a jumperless mobo I don't know what the problem is. Tom's Hardware did a story on this a while back I'll post a link to it if I can find it.

yea hugo is right
there is a problem with KT133A mobos that use a jumper to change to the FSB to 133MHz

http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1440

that should clear it up
the boards that are free from this problem use either a fully jumpered or fully jumperless motherboard

My Duron 750 is runnig happily@133 FSB in Jumper mode with a KT133a chipset

i would guess that it is b/c your Duron 900 is by default set for 100 MHz FSB * 9 CPU multiplier. If you haven't unlocked the CPU's multiplier with the L1 "pencil trick" or equivalent, then when you try for 133 * 9 it just isn't happening for heat/voltage/whatever reasons. So, if you lower the multiplier and then go for 133 FSB i think it should do 133 and more with no trouble.

been able to run my 850 at 6.5x155 but had cold-boot problems.... stepping: AKCA

Okay, so there are a lot of Durons running at 133 FSB or even above.

My own Duron 650 won't even run on 114 FSB :( !!! 113 is the max and I don't have a clue why. Stepping should be ok.

Now last night I was looking into this problem once again because of this thread and I came up with the following question: oes the memory clock matter? I'm using a MSI K7TA turbo mobo and the default memory clock is set at 100 Mhz. But the first thing I did was changing this to 133Mhz. gives a nice performance boost. For some reason I looked over this for a long time but do you think it will take higher FSB settings when I reset the memory clock to 100 Mhz???

If your memory is capable of running at 133, you shoulb be setting it to 133... that would really help you in overclocking...

Obviously, memory is capable of running at 133, and I know it is giving me a performance boost (not overclocked), but is it keeping me from raising my FSB higher than 113??

I have a Duron 700 and it is running at 136 fsb i could run it at 140 but then starts locking up on me. I used to have an asus A7V 133 and it would only run at 105 anything more then 105 would crash. So in my oppinion it is the MoBo you use.
