im looking to get more memory for my pc and not know too much about memory. i have a stick of samsung ram 512mb pc3200. other than that i dont know more about the ram i have.

i was looking to get an additional gig of ram.
is it better to get one stick (a gig) or two sticks (2 x 512mb ram)? will either of those two options make a difference in gaming or intensive usage?
when looking at memory what else should i look for that would yield he best performance for that pc that im running now? i saw that some were "unbuffered" and with ecc? no clue. (although i am going to be reading stickies in this forum to try and find those definitions.)

i was looking at newegg and i think this is what i am going to get. its the corsair xms 2.512mb ram pc3200. unbuffered. with heat spreader. 2-3-3-6

i am going to do some more research but what do you guys think? will it run well with my samsung ram that i currently have?

any and all opinions welcome.

motherboard is soyo kt400 platinum. ( i will be gettting an intel p4 2.8 cpu with intel motherboard soon though. but running the amd 2000+ right now with that soyo board.)

my OS is windows2000

I believe the kt400, though many of the boards have 3 ram slots, will only run 2 sticks of pc3200. Check your manual.

it DOES have 3 ram slots.

will have to look at the manual.
