View Full Version : RAM compatability help
I have a GA-K8NF-9 mobo and the site says its compatable up to ddr400. can i use anything higher than this like ddr500 etc. if so is there a speed i shouldnt go past or will it work with any ddr?
thanks
also if i can use ddr500 will it still work alongside ddr400, as long as its not in a dual setup?

You can put in which ever speed memory you like as long as its DDR400 or faster. There is however no guarantee that it will run rated speeds if the board or CPU can't do it. For instance if you install pc4800 in an NF2 board there is no way you will be able to make it hit 300FSB :)
It's best not to mix and match ram so I wouldn't put PC3200 in with pc4000 unless you know they have the same IC,PCB and SPD timings.

using a faster RAM is fine, it generally just gives more room for overclocking.
