what would be the best step up from a 9200SE
for under $100.00?

this is for a friend who does not want to OC/mod/bios flash.
(i'll just be doing that and not saying anything anyways :P )

the card does not have to be ATI, that's just what we both
have experience with. I'll be eyeballing the 'eggs refurbs, but i
would like to broaden my horizons by including other opinions.

thanks everyone in advance

You can get the 9600XT 256mb or the 9800SE 128mb for under a hundred at pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com/) . I would recomend going with the 9600XT because your friend doesn't want to try and mod the 9800SE to 9800pro. The success rate for that is 50% anyway.

you can get any number of 9600xt cards from newegg for under $100.00.... the best one they have is a sapphire with 256mb of ram. If you don't care about the extra memory you can get a 128mb xt card for even less.

If you don't have anything against Nvidia you can get a 6200 for about the same price...... some people would say it's a better card.

9600XT is your best bet under $100... but if u wanna bust a bit more cash for a better card, a 6600GT AGP would be my suggestion
