I just got an old HP computer(PIII 933mhz era) and I'm wondering what I should do with it. Since its still functionally fine and I got it for free including a 17'' monitor, I could use it for a backup/folding computer. I was thinking about picking up some cheapo(sub-$30) case from Frys and some spray paint and painting it.

Any ideas?

Yes, I am for folding but as for overclocking, I don't think it can since its one of those OEM motherboards.

CUSTOM BOARD!

all you need to make a custom motherboard:

Toaster
Gasoline
SOLDER!

A hardware firewall or file server are also good ideas. Folding works though.

you could also make it into a smoothwall box while running F@H :D

guide to that here: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=194759&highlight=folding+smoothwall

It already has Win XP loaded but I might dual boot it with Xandros or Gentoo.
