I am having trouble figuring out how to run memtest86. I want to put it to a bootable disk, to do that I need to download the iso file and then burn it onto the disk right? Or do I need to extract it to the disk? Or do something else? I am not sure help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the instructions for Windows Installation (http://www.memtest86.com/#install). I'm one of the lucky DFI NF4 users and we get memtest86 included in the BIOS :D

ahh yes, another great selling point of the DFI boards :D

but anyways, follow what reddragon said. Download the ISO file and burn it to a cd (open the iso with nero and burn, or open nero -> burn image -> select the iso and burn). floppies work as well I do believe, but cds are just easier.

Floppies are much easer if you have a drive installed :p

The nice thing about the latest version is that you can change the timings on the fly and test out varous settings with no risk of your system not posting if it freezes. If you set too agressive a setting in the BIOS, it won't post and we all know how much of a hassle that can be. Use memtest to try 'em out and if it crashes, a system reset will put you back in with the BIOS settings you started with.

I am still not understanding it. First of all what is nero. Second how do I make it into an image file.

Ok when you download the file it is .iso or bin. And you can download alchohol 120% or nero, which is a simple burning program that allows you to burn .iso and bin files. And then when you have the file burned to a cd using nero or alchohol you put it in your cd rom drive and then reboot the computer, and make sure in your bios that you have it set to boot the cdrom drive before the harddrive in the bootloader.

First, download the iso image from www.memtest86.com
Second, download ISO Recorder Power Toy from http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm or use another program which can do the same thing such as Nero if you have it.
Then right click the .iso file, (I am assuming you are using ISO Recorder at this point), and select Copy Image to CD, and follow the prompt.
Then boot from that CD and run Memtest86.

If you want it on bootable CD just download the ultimatebootcd iso and burn the image to disk. That way you have a whole bunch of tools. Here is the link. www.ultimatebootcd.com

In nero just find the option to burn image and point it to the .ISO

You have been given great advices how to run MemTest86+, but I can give a recommendation for HCI MemTest (http://hcidesign.com/memtest/download.html). I've done some research and seems that on A64 system, it founds errors more quickly than MemTest86+ does.

woah Woah WOAH, wait a minute. DFI's BIOS includes Memtest86+?!?!
That is the coolest/best/smartest thing I think I have ever seen a mobo manufacturer do (besides DFI making thier NF4 lineup look sooo sexy). I guess that's two more points for the LanParty's!!

But don't get me wrong, I love my chaintech, it goes all the way up to 220mhz HTT!!! :bang head
