this still trubbles me. Why can't i get my CPU any higher than 1.575? I only want that extra 25 MHz! Show me some sympathy here little Athlon!
specs:
athlon 1.4 Blue Core (coper interconnects)
SK-6 (42C load)
current Vcore: 1.85
M&F ( 10.5 * 150)
512 PC 2100 (Brand Name)
have u tried raising the multiplier???

i think i've tried almost every combonation from high multiplyer and low FSB to high FSB and low multiplyer. I even tried lower voltages! Crazy, no?

LOL SAME CLOCK SPEED HERE!
I have mostly same setup as you, look below. The problem is PSU. My PSU is weak. I take stuff out of my system and run them off a dual PSU combo and guess what? Higher clock speed.

hmmmmmm interesting, think i'll try that. But i realy shouldn't have a problem becuse my PSU is one of those nice expensive tempeature controled ones(antec 300 WATT) and i also have a OEM 300WATT supplying my drives. Maybe i'll just try lowering my VI/O

Not being funny mate, but power isnt your problem. Voltage regulation is the problem. This can only be fixed by a PSU with better voltage regulation.
Heres an example...
I have two 300W PSUs. One is a generic PSU and one is an AMD Approved PSU. The generic one isnt good enough to make my system work. The voltage scores are LOWER but the power is HIGHER. I am using a less powerful PSU but the voltages are HIGHER.
I am VERY borderline atm. Voltage scores are 4.78v idle and 4.68v load. Believe me, 0.05v lower and my system would freeze. This is why overclocking more is not possible even with my temps and a >2.0v.

don't tell me that you had to use 2Vcore to get there! thats just insane.
Hi there I feel your pain m8. Now what stepping is your processor. I had a AYHJA 4 which would only reach 1.56 GHZ. Even after donig a Vcore mod i could only reach 1.56. However I got the chance to swap my 1.4 CPU for a 1.4 AMD AYHJA Y and now I am at 1.675Mhz with a VCore 2.1. I reckon you'll have to do a vcoremod or just accept the fact that your little birdy wont fly much further...
Sorry for the bad news....

I said b4. Its my PSU. My voltage is now so low (4.58v LOAD) that my neon flikers and windows sometimes freezes for a couple of seconds. Boy, my pay cheque cant come fast enough. Also I have noticed that I cannot even boot at 1600Mhz now, when I could get into windows b4. This is coz I added another PCI card, not a good idea but I need it.
It’s your Epox mobo that’s causing those power problems. I’ve seen numerous posts regarding low +5V readings with the Epox 8K7A, even with 400W supplies. Here’s a quote from a review of the board at Accelenation.

There are issues though. Some power problems have arisen. It seems with certain configurations which are still being determined, the board doesn't receive enough power, which can cause stability problems. These issues are isolated, but they do warrant some more investigating. Just an FYI if you're interested in this board.

This may not be much help since you said you tried alot of multiplier/fsb combos but I thought I'd throw in my recent personal experience....I just built a 1.4 Athlon system (see signature) and after some tweaking have gotten it rock solid (based on Prime95/3d2001 concurrent stress testing) at 1.61 using a 11.5 multiplier x 140 FSB. I am running the core voltage at +.100 which with the Shuttle AK31 mobo works out to around 1.9V (1.87-1.89 during actual monitoring). My load temp is around 45-47C. I had to bring my RAM down to a 2T setting for stable operation but I'm happy with the current specs. It's stable as hell, unlike when I was pushing 1.6 using the multiplier alone at 12x133. If you haven't tried this combo, give it a shot and hopefully it'll work for ya!

Try taking your vcore upto 1.9 or even 2.0, but watch your temps. I have to goto 1.9 to get my 1.4@1.6 and 2.0 to get it at 1.4@1.64

might be my 5V line!!:( I just looked at my monitor and it says 4.8V, which could be a problem. also my chip is a ayhja Y and has no trubble with temps.

Its not the board mate. I know this cause when my neon starts flickering, I get the idea that power is a little low!!!
My friend has same sort of configuration system but has an Enermax 450W PSU and gets good 5v scores (4.9v Load)
Looks like I can afford a new PSU now, will be buying one in a week or two weeks at most. Fancy a new modem too since 56k is so slow anyway.
