I was just wondering when Intel introduced the Coppermine. I cant remember. I haven't read up on processors in a long time, no need to. I have an PIII 866 and was just wondering how to tell if it was a coppermine. With out removing the HSF. Taking that GORB off gets annoying at times. Yes, I know... GORBs are not the greatest... but I got it for a decent price a year ago to replace my old HSF that was rattling like no tomorrow.

Thanks all...

Yes, that's a coppermine. They started using those cores in P3s and celerons at about 500mhz.

I have a program in my sig below, hell, here's the link (http://speshalk.dyndns.org:18012/programs/Motherboard%20and%20CPU%20Tweak%20Files/wcpu30b103.exe).

If the chip itself is green, it's a Coppermine. The easy way.:D

I do remember that about my cpu, the green core. Since I broke my old motherboard I had a lot of time to stare at that cpu! Anybody want to try to fix it? (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30825). If I had a celeron laying around I would give it a shot. But since I do not, nor do I have a spare system I can test on... I have not fixed it yet.
