Anyone planning on getting up early for the 200 free XPs in San Fran?? I'm close to Philly so I might try to get someone to give me a ride - that would be soo sweet. I haven't heard anyone in here talking about the whole thing though, so if anyone goes to the san fran giveaway, post and let us know how it was. I've squeezed just about all i can out of my 1.2, so I need a new toy, but I'm in college, so I dont wanna spend any money right now, you know how it is.

im curious to see how it all turns out. although i live in colorado (which got screwed :-) ), i have family in illinois, so im going to try to persuade someone to get me one from chicago.
i think no one it talking about it becuase they want as little people to know as possible! i sure havent been talking about it. the less people that know, the better chance YOU have to get one.
what are teh details free cpus I am there. when?
I live 45 min away from sf. I go to pac bell park lots to watch the giants :) . Any tips on getting my parents to excuse their 15 year old son from school and drive him to sf at 6 am?
I'll write you a note if you get me one ;)

Hey I'm about 60min away from SF. although getting outa school for this won't happen :( otherwise i would go. (take the bus if i had to ;) )

I'm in Colorado, too, but I have contacts in Chicago which will ensure my free chip! Now, keep quiet about this, you hear!? We can't have every half brained wit in every city flock to places where the educated few should be rewarded...

well I didnt post this thread to inform people about the giveaway;) (why am I posting again then?? oh well...) so for those of you who didnt know about it, forget it. I just hope some people go to the san fran one tomorrow morning and see how many people actually turn out. this isnt really publicized, so i cant imagine that many people would go, but i sure will do anything in my power to get to philly that day...just hope it isnt at 6 in the morning like san fran. just lemme know tomorrow

when somoene picks up a free one, i wanna know details, like how many people are there, how it works (if it's a raffle, or if its just who shows up, etc...)
when someone gets home with a new toy, let us know how you did it, and how it all works!

if you look on the map, its philly, boston, seattle, houston, san fran, chicago. the midwest (colorado and surrounding states) got screwed :-)
illinois and california are my CLOSEST cities. they are both 14-16 hour drive. oh well. there isnt much population out here though... i know people in chicago too, hehe.
if anyone is marveling at their new XP chip, let the rest of us know what its like!

Well, it seems nobody has posted the url... so I wont be the guy who does. :p Apparently 15 more cities have been added. If somewhere with a decent drive time is posted, I might have to make the trek. Chicago is not to far away... but the quickest way is through Wisconson... yuck!:D

THey had 1200 for 6 cities and now 1200 for 15 cities? Ack, don't tell me our odds of winning just plummeted with the addition of these 15 cities!

Well I can bet that in populated areas, more than 80 people will show per city...Hmm...thats is IF they pick populated areas...i think Im understanding how they play to not sell all 1200 before they reach the 15th city...if im right that is...

Well I went to the SF event and brought two friends to share the wealth. It was easy and painless, not a whole lot of propaganda but there was some. About 300-400 people should up and I ended up walking away with a t-shirt and pen as well as one of my friends, the other one however one a new cpu and mobo. I should have just went myself:(
They gave away a 1800+ which I believe is the 1500 and the mobo was an MSI (don't remember the exact model) but it had the kt266 chipset (I couldn't tell if it was the A version) and it had usb 2.0, 4 pci slots, and 1 agp, and one damn amr slot. This particular board didn't have raid support but you could tell by the layout that there was a raid version.
I'm pretty upset and I think there might have been people who picked up multiple raffle tickets. (yes I'm super jealous)

and by the way - those dates listed on the rules page seem to be the days before the giveaways, hence philly will probably be on monday the 15th...
sounds cool I still have to see what the date is cuz might be busy since my stepmom is having surgery but I will try and pick u up if the dates are cool. hope it ain't on sunday cuz more people will show!!!
yeah the dates are changing so don't hold me to my prediction of where and when.

Don't freak out. Anyone who can use google could put in the quote and fine the site real fast (what I did). No competition from me; Seattle is 5-6 hours away, and I like my setup (not that a free upgrade would be unwelcome).:D :D Most people buy their stuff anyway.
fuzzball anadtech.com,techbargains.com and slashdot all have 500 post threads and only 2% of the lurkers post so at least 75000 people have seen it already and overclockers gets very little traffic so i don't think you have a better than 1 in 5 chance at all the rest of the stops.
