I just upgraded after working with Office 2000 for a long time. I got a good deal on 2003 Pro through my employer. So far I really like it, good color scheme, faster , etc

Don't undertand the LDAP thing though...

Also how do I import from Thunderbird?

Are you looking for a definition of what LDAP is? If so, this site may be of some help to you...

What is LDAP?

Try here...

Transferring Email from Netscape 7.1 to Outlook/Outlook Express
http://home.att.net/~cherokee67/ns7mailtoOEorO.html

It says Netscape, but the procedure for TBird is exactly the same. The MSKB doesn't contain an article regarding installation and use of the LDAP service for OL2003, but they do have one for OL2000...which should be similar if not the same.

OL2000: (CW) How to Install and Use the LDAP Service

Hmmm... thanks for the links. I'll work on the thunderbird importing. See I just got a new phone that runs Windows Mobile 2003, so I have to go back to Outlook, but I don't wanna manually do all my contacts etc.

As for LDAP, I just wanna turn off that little pop up box that appears when I start Outlook, that's all.

I followed that tutorial to the letter--didn't work for exporting my addressed. The step where it says to copy without the .msf extensions: I did that (with good old cmd) but when I reopened Thunderbird it never created the new file type like it said... Any other ideas?

You need to remove the LDAP/Active Directory address book from your profile. Open Outlook | Tools | E-mail Accounts | Select "View or change existing directories or address books" | Highlight the "LDAP Address Book", and click the "Remove" button.

AFA exporting your mail into Outlook, try these additional links...

Exporting NS 7.02 mail to Outlook...is this possible?

A commercial tool that can help is here...

Thanks for the help. I got rid of the LDAP pop up box. Didn't get a chance to try importing... Although looking at those newer links, none of them mention contacts, just mail. Do you think contacts will go as well, or should I just give up and start manual entry?

You should be able to import your contacts into Outlook from OE, once they're exported to OE using Eudora or NS.
