north bridge fan failing

The title kinda says it all. When I start my machine I can hear the grinding of little bearings . It does smooth out after 10 seconds or so. But the fan needs replacing.Any thoughts as to what I should specificly replace it with?

Another fan which fits your northbridge heatsink? Perhaps something like this:

user4711 thats what happened to me, but then it got longer and longer and now its just dead but my computer still runs fine with no probs.

If the mobo is still under warranty, I think Abit will send you a new N/B cooler. If you want a inexpensive replacement that will last longer, then check out the Thermaltake NB-1 (see link).

No warrenty..bought a factory serviced mobo bundle.. fan still spins up to speed ..tho sometimes it stalls and the computer shuts down but this has only happened 3 or 4 times and only at an initial startup. have made no decisions but I thank you all for your help

Go passive with a Zalman NB32J or NB47J, and never worry about or hear the tiny, whinny fan again.
