I was wondering if there are any mods can do to get more from the GPU and the RAM on a 6800GT. I have found zero on the Internet, and have done searches galore.

I have found some on the 6600 series and other earlier cards, but none on the 6800 series. There has to be something people are doing with these things to get these high scores they are getting. I clock to artifact level and then back off, and I'm nowhere near what they're getting.

you can flash the bios to a different voltage...

Thanks man. You wouldn't happen toy know where I could find such a BIOS and a "how to". One thing I haven't ever done is mod a card. I haven't had a card worthy up until now. Most of the cards I bought before were the cheapies, but this one is FAR superior to anything I've had before. It will run flight simulators at frame rates in the 1000's, but my '05 scores suck. I know I won't be able to compete with the SLI setups, but would really like to get those frame rates up in '05. That airship on high quality is like 2-3 FPS. There has to be a way to get better than that.

Here you go :)

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=39542 - thread on a program made for modifying 6800 series video card BIOSes. You can adjust startup voltage, as well as startup frequencies.

I did a bunch of research and when going through some of the forums I found this site in someone's sig ===> http://www.scaramonga.com/

The site explained how to flash the card to a Gainward Golden Sample BIOS. I did that, and all I can say is WOW!!! The BIOS file is smaller than what I had, and it modified stock. In other words the stock Gainward BIOS already had 1.4v for performance 3D which is where I wanted those volts.

It also made the graphics better, but scores and peformance increased. It was very easy, and worked perfectly with my Chaintech AA6800GT. I can't explain why only a BIOS flash would make such a difference, but there are now grphics showing up in the benches, and the games that were not even there before! I highly recommend this mod for people looking for flashier (no pun intended) graphics, and better performance.

WARNING: Remember, do this at your own risk. Do not blame me if your card does not work! It worked on mine, and has worked on many others, but that doesn't mean something could not go wrong. People who do this accept that risk for better performance. If you do not have the money to replace your graphics card, then don't do it.

3DFlyer, Im glad it worked for you. Now with this Gainward Golden Sample BOIS, what clocks does it startup with? And the voltage?

Startup Clks = 400/1100
Voltages 1.3/1.4

I still haven't been able to find any info on that particular BIOS. I'm trying to understand why that BIOS makes the graphics so much better but is smaller in filesize than my stock BIOS was. There's something very special about that BIOS.
