Hey,

It's been a long time since I've posted. I usually search and can find my answer but I didn't see anything about anyone else having isssues with lightscribe. I just installed my BenQ DW1625 and it WON'T lightscirbe. It keeps telling me to clean the disc and what not and I have tried many discs and it won't work. It's really making me angry because this media is more expensive and I didn't buy the drive and media to use a sharpie! I flashed the firmware to the BBHA version and still no luck. I don't know what the problem is. I tried the included Nero software to burn the label and I downloaded the Surething labeler software from lightscribe.com and neither worked. Has anyone else used this BenQ drive? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated or else Ii am sending all this crap back and buying a pack of new sharpies. :-/

Only specific media is lightscribe-able.
Unless you were using it, then use a lens cleaner, which can cause some annoying problems.

I finally got it to burn the label on the cd, so I burned a dvd and tried to label it and it gave me the same problem again. But after many MANY frustrating trys it finally worked. So there seems to be no rhyme or reason to when it decides to work. I am going try again tonight and figure out what the deal is.

Buy a single media from other manufacturer and try it.

Update: I went to add text to cd that I had already burnt a label onto and it worked fine, first try! I don't know if that's because I already burnt something on it or what, but as far as I am concerned, I am just going to figure it was a bit dusty in the drive and that it works now. If anything changes I'll update again for anyone interested.

So far it's a little less picky if I restart and burn the label right away. If it does tell me its not a lightscribe disc then, I just wipe the ring in the middle and put it back in and it seems to work. Its cool, but not worth it as of now. If it starts to become more reliable, it wil lbe extermemly more useful. Oh well.
